Iran-U.S. War

• April 2019

On April 30, the Iranian oil tanker "Happiness" suffered a reported malfunction. According to Iranian officials, the incident had while "Happiness" was on its way to the Suez Canal, and that water had leaked into the tanker’s engine room.  In its analysis, Dryad Maritime said the incident involving the "Happiness" bore "the hallmarks of a potential explosive incident."
In August another oil tanker, the "Helm", faced a "technical failure" while passing through the Red Sea.

2019, July 18 -- According to President Trump, the naval vessel "USS Boxer" destroyed an "Iranian" drone over the Strait of Hormuz because it had come too close to the ship. Tehran counters that Iran is not missing a drone. The provocateur (not Iran) is active again. This time he intentionally sacrificed a drone.

2019, July 19 -- The leadership in Tehran has announced in early July consequences for the hijacked Iranian oil tanker "Grace 1" by the British Navy off Gibraltar. Iran has now hijacked a British tanker in the Gulf of Hormuz. The British-flagged "Stena Impero" was escorted to Iranian coast. That is the right answer  for Trump's "poodle". Britain should not interfere in Trump's personal "war" against Iran.

2019, July 20 -- The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) released a video that in the time on July 18 show inspected warships (including USS "Boxer") and tankers in the Persian Gulf, hours before the destruction of the mysterious drone. Contrary to the statement that it was a drone (UAV) in the video, a revealing sequence in the video proves it was an Iranian helicopter  equipped with a moving camera. Drones have wheels and not skids.

Jan 3, 2020 -- Major General Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of the IRGC, had been assassinated in US airstrikes in Baghdad.

Iran Leader vows 'harsh revenge' following assassination of Gen. Soleimani

Fri Jan 3, 2020

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says those who assassinated IRGC Quds Force Commander Major General Qassem Soleimani must await a harsh revenge.

In a statement on Friday, Ayatollah Khamenei said the “cruelest people on earth” assassinated the “honorable” commander who “courageously fought for years against the evils and bandits of the world.”

His demise will not stop his mission, but the criminals who have the blood of General Soleimani and other martyrs of the Thursday night attack on their hands must await a harsh revenge, the Leader added.

“Martyr Soleimani is an international figure of the Resistance, and all the devotees of Resistance are now his avengers,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

"All the friends and foes must know that the path of Jihad of the Resistance will continue with double motivation, and a definite victory awaits those who fight in this auspicious path," the Leader said.

“The demise of our selfless and dear general is bitter, but the continued fight and achievement of the final victory will make life bitterer for the murderers and criminals,” he added.

In his statement, the Leader also offered condolences to the Iranian nation and General Soleimani’s family, and declared three days of national mourning.

Following the Leader’s remarks, Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami also vowed that revenge will be taken against all those behind the assassination.

“Undoubtedly, this heinous crime which is a strong proof of the evil nature of the Big Satan, the arrogant US and it’s all-out support for terrorism in the region and Iraq, will be responded to in a crushing way,” the defense minister warned.

Earlier, former commander of the IRGC Major General Mohsen Rezaei also vowed a harsh revenge against the perpetrators.

Retaliation means it is already too late.

Houses with open doors without surveillance are an invitation for burglars, oil wealthy nations without nukes are an invitation for plunderers.

If Iran didn't waste 5 years with the JCPOA trap, today it would be on par with North Korea, with a credible thermonuclear deterrent.

Trump would not even have attempted to assassinate such a high ranking general. War would have been prevented.

Trump threatens to hit 52 Iranian targets if Tehran retaliates after Soleimani killing

January 05, 2020

WASHINGTON, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Donald Trump warned Iran Saturday that America has targeted 52 Iranian sites and Iran will be hit "very fast and very hard" if it attacks any American or U.S. assets.

"We have targeted 52 Iranian sites (representing the 52 American hostages taken by Iran many years ago), some at a very high level and important to Iran and the Iranian culture," Trump tweeted on Saturday evening.

Trump's threat came after a U.S. airstrike near Baghdad International Airport on Friday killed Iranian Major General Qassem Soleimani, commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps Quds Force, sparking outrage and vows to revenge from Tehran.

Earlier Saturday, the White House reportedly formally notified Congress of the U.S. operation that killed Soleimani.

Major cities in America, including Washington, New York and Los Angeles, are on alert after the deadly incident while local authorities said there is no credible or specific threats toward the cities.

Meanwhile, anti-war protests took place across the United States on Saturday.

 Mon Jan 06, 2020 1:50

The Iranian government announced in the statement on Sunday that from now on, the country will observe no operational limitations on its nuclear industry, including with regard to the capacity and level of uranium enrichment, the amount of enriched materials as well as research and development.

"By taking the fifth step in reducing its commitment, the Islamic Republic of Iran eliminates the last key operational restriction it faced under the JCPOA, which is the limitation imposed on the number of centrifuges," it said.

The statement emphasized that following this decision, Iran will continue its nuclear program only on the basis of its “technical needs”.

The Iranian government, however, emphasized that it will continue to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as was the case in the past, including inspection-related undertakings.

Quote:'Never Threaten Iranian Nation': Rouhani Warns Trump over '52 Targets' Threat

Tue Jan 07, 2020 11:23

“Those who refer to the number 52 should also remember the number 290,” Rouhani wrote on Twitter, warning, “Never threaten the Iranian nation.”

The US guided missile cruiser USS Vincennes shot down Iran Air Flight 655 with 290 crew and passengers on board over the Strait of Hormuz in July 1988. Back then, Tehran blasted the US for its criminal negligence, insisting that the Airbus A300 transmitted the signal which allowed it to be identified as a civilian aircraft. The Americans never admitted guilt or formally apologized to Tehran for the tragedy.

Trump has claimed that the US military has identified 52 sites of importance to Iran and its culture, which it is ready to strike if Tehran targets US citizens or assets to avenge the assassination of its top general. He noted that the targets represented 52 Americans who were held in Iran for acts of espionage following the 1979 takeover of the US embassy in Tehran.

Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif took to Twitter Sunday to denounce Trump's "new breaches of JUS COGENS", referring to peremptory norms of international law.

"Targeting cultural sites is a WAR CRIME; -Whether kicking or screaming, end of US malign presence in West Asia has begun," he stressed.

"Those masquerading as diplomats and those who shamelessly sat to identify Iranian cultural & civilian targets should not even bother to open a law dictionary," he added.

Quote:FM Zarif: Iran's Reprisal Attack in Compliance with UN Charter

Wed Jan 08, 2020 7:0

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said his country's Wednesday missile attacks on Ein Al-Assad falls under the rules of the UN Charter, reminding that Iran has hit the airbase that has been used as the launchpad for assassinating Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani.

"Iran took and concluded proportionate measures in self-defense under Article 51 of UN Charter targeting [the] base from which cowardly armed attack against our citizens and senior officials were launched," Zarif wrote on his tweeter page on Wednesday morning.

Quote:US Army Sustains Heavy Casualties in Iran Missile Attacks

Wed Jan 08, 2020 10:24

TEHRAN (FNA)- Some 80 US army personnel have been killed and nearly 200 more wounded in Iran's Wednesday missile attacks carried out in reprisal for the assassination of Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Qods Force Commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani.

"Early estimates indicate heavy US casualties in Iran's missile attack," an informed IRGC Intelligence Department told FNA Wednesday morning.

"According to the reports sent by our sources in the region to this moment, at least 80 US arm personnel have been killed and around 200 others wounded," he said, adding that the wounded have been evacuated from Ein Al-Assad on choppers.

He further underlined the strategic importance of Ein Al-Assad airbase to the US, and mentioned that the military center provided backup for US army drones.

"Some 20 sensitive points of this base were struck by 15 missiles, resulting in the destruction of a considerable number of drones and helicopters," the source added, explaining that some of the targets have been destroyed in a single strike resulted from the high-explosive power of the warheads and serial explosions.

He reiterated that the US army was on high alert, but failed to show proper reaction.

The IRGC source further cautioned that "a sum of 104 sensitive US positions in the region have been identified to immediately come under raid as soon as the Americans make the first mistake".

The IRGC Aerospace Force started heavy ballistic missile attacks on US Ein Al-Assad airbase in Southwestern Iraq near the border with Syria and a US operated airbase in Erbil in retaliation for the assassination of IRGC Qods Force Commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani.

Ein Al-Assad is an airbase with a 4km runway at 188m altitude from sea levels, which is the main and the largest US airbase in Iraq. Early reports said the radar systems and missile defense shields in Ein Al-Assad have failed to operate and intercept the Iranian missiles. Unofficial reports said the US army's central radar systems at Ein Al-Assad had been jammed by electronic warfare.

The second IRGC reprisal attack targeted a US military base near Erbil airport in Iraqi Kurdistan Region in the second leg of "Martyr Soleimani" reprisal operation.

All flights have been cancelled at Erbil airport.

Iraq said the attacks have not taken any toll from its army men stationed at these two bases. The US army had blocked entrance into Ein Al-Assad to everyone, including the Iraqi army.

This is the first direct attack on the US army ever since world war two.

IRGC officials said none of the missiles had been intercepted.

Following the attack, the IRGC issued a statement immediately after the attacks, declaring that it has fired tens of ground-to-ground missiles at "the airbase occupied by the terrorist and aggressive army of the United States known as Ein Al-Assad" in reprisal for the martyrdom of IRGC Qods Force Commaner Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani.

The IRGC warned the US to avoid retaliating the Wednesday attack or else "it will face a more painful and crushing response".

The IRGC Statement also warned "all the US allied states where the terrorist army has a base, any territory that becomes the origin of any hostile and aggressive action against the Islamic Republic of Iran in any way will be targeted".

All is well! Missiles launched from Iran at two military bases located in Iraq. Assessment of casualties & damages taking place now. So far, so good! We have the most powerful and well equipped military anywhere in the world, by far! I will be making a statement tomorrow morning.

The coverage in the west this morning is marginal, implying no U.S. casualties at all!

Meanwhile the downing of the Boeing 737 airliner is nearly not mentioned, and presented as accidental.

(01-08-2020, 08:03 AM)lulldapull Wrote: The US had evacuated the base before the attack galactic penguin!.......Sounds like Iran hit an emptied out base.

Hiding 80 casualties is not easy......let alone the other 100 or so claimed injured.

Pending satellite imagery confirmation, for years I have commented on various forums that ballistic missiles were not a good strategy against the U.S.

Three options for the U.S. military:

  1. With 24/7/365 orbital optical coverage, plus orbital SAR that penetrates cloud coverage, orbital electromagnetic signal monitoring, any missile strike can be detected even before it is launched. This could explain how they left in advance the bases - if the U.S. did so.

  2. If detected then jamming is possible, if it is not even infected by some electronic warfare's implanted virus!

  3. If guidance is based on GPS/Glonass/Beidou/Galileo, then definitely, the missile can be misleaded by false signals

  4. In case of a missile already launched, the interception with laser is very real, expecially if fitted aboard large military aircrafts flying above the layers of cloud at more than 15'000 meters altitude.

Conclusion, this is no longer WWII, where the Germans could hope for a hit with such novelties as ballistic missiles.

After 1945, the real long rang vector is directed energy weapons.

Ballistic missiles are only good against low tech minor players and NGOs such as Daesh, YPG or MKE. Certainly not against a hyperpower.

Today, the presumably failed missile strike might be a wake up call for the Iranian (and North Korean) strategists who thought it was still WW2.

Otherwise, how to interpret Trump's lightheartedness in his statement?

Quote:We have the most powerful and well equipped military anywhere in the world, by far!

In this case any hypothetical future nuclear warhead would not be of more use to Iran, missing a vector for delivery to the target zone.

So surprised that no one mentioned the most inexplicable total absence of retaliation from the U.S., previously promised by Trump as the most reckless ever such as targeting 52 Persian cultural sites, even as the whole world sees mesmerized the pictures of devastated and humiliating U.S. military bases, as posted above.

This could only be explained by the fact that it was precisely the best option for Trump.

That is only humiliated, with a U.S. prestige severely tarnished. But in appearance only.

Initially Trump has probably never ordered to retaliate by striking 52 targets in Iran.

The following could be the real planned strategy:

As the U.S. jamming of all Iranian radars, SAMs, and communications was conducted, a warfare already seen in all the U.S. Iraqi, Libyan and Yugoslav campaigns, the shooting of the Ukrainian International Airlines flight PS-752 by Iranian forces was therefore the intended plot.

The radar signature of the Boeing 737-800 seen by the Iranian operators of the Tor M2 Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) System becoming one of a cruise missile, and of course, the communication with the hierarchical superior being suddenly blocked, could only have resulted in a friendly fire shooting of the airliner.

Blaming it on the Iranian leadership, the level of popular anger would have escalated later in a major uprising in Iran. Thus allowing the U.S. military to invade an already softened Iran like they do today in Syria.

More confessions from the U.S.: it is now admitted that nearly one dozen American troops were wounded in Iran’s 8th January missile attack on Iraq’s al-Asad air base.

Quote:Eleven US Troops Were Injured in Jan. 8 Iran Missile Strike

January 16, 2020

Nearly one dozen American troops were wounded in Iran’s Jan. 8 missile attack on Iraq’s al-Asad air base. This week, they were medically evacuated to U.S. military hospitals in Kuwait and Landstuhl, Germany, to be treated for traumatic brain injury and to undergo further evaluation, several U.S. defense and military officials have confirmed to Defense One.

Senior military and Trump administration officials had said on Jan. 8 that 11 Iranian missiles had caused “no casualties, no friendly casualties, whether they are U.S., coalition, contractor, et cetera.”

In the past week, news organizations that were granted access to the base to film the damage and interview military personnel have reported that no Americans were killed, wounded, or “seriously injured.” But the New York Times reported on Monday that some personnel had been treated for concussions.

In a Jan. 16 statement, a spokesman for the U.S. military command in Baghdad said, “As previously stated, while no U.S. service members were killed in the Jan. 8 Iranian attack on Al Asad Air base, several were treated for concussion symptoms from the blast and are still being assessed.”

“Out of an abundance of caution, some service members were transported from Al Asad Air Base, Iraq to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, others were sent to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, for follow-on screening,” said Col. Myles Caggins, spokesman for Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve. “When deemed fit for duty, the service members are expected to return to Iraq following screening. The health and welfare of our personnel is a top priority and we will not discuss any individual’s medical status.”

A separate U.S. defense official speaking on background confirmed eleven Americans had been sent out of Iraq for treatment.

“As a standard procedure, all personnel in the vicinity of a blast are screened for traumatic brain injury, and if deemed appropriate, are transported to a higher level of care. At this time, eight individuals have been transported to Landstuhl, and three have been transported to Camp Arifjan,” said the official.

Later Thursday evening, Capt. Bill Urban, spokesman for U.S. Central Command, which oversees all military in the region, confirmed those details in a similar on-the-record statement emailed to reporters.

According to a fourth senior U.S. defense official, “About a week after the attack some service members were still experiencing some symptoms of concussion.” The official expected more information would be released soon. “We only got wind of this in the last 24 hours.”

Since the advance warning was given several hours before the impacts, the question is why did Trump choosed to sacrify U.S. troops.

The answer is probably to be found in the U.S. last century practice.

Aware well in advance of the Empire of Japan's plan to strike at Pearl Harbour's fleet, the FBI having been informed by the German triple agent Duško Popov on 12th August 1941, the U.S. leadership had nonetheless deliberately sacrified some U.S. cannon fodders to achieve enough public outrage for supporting a total war against the Empire of Japan, while sparing the most strategic U.S. aircraft carriers during the raids of 7th December 1941.

This time, Trump needed to turn the public opinion against Iran. But not to forfeit too many ground assets.

And indeed, from that night, the European masses and leaders have all been convinced of the Iranian threat. One that could only to be dealt with force.

Meanwhile the threat made on 9th January 2020 by Iran to restart the Shahab-4 IRBM program, that would cover the whole of Europe, is in this regard another step in that direction.

(01-17-2020, 10:12 PM)Ace Wrote: The Shahab 4 missile is just a 'joke' by the Iranian Parliament against the threat of Europe 3.

The Shahab-4 is not a fantasy. Shahab-5 and Shahab-6 have 3'000 km and 5'000 km range repectively.

Overlapping the Safir-2 ICBM:

Quote:04.04.2009, RIA Novosti

Tehran has begun designing the Shahab-4 missile. The first successful launch of a Shahab-3 with a new North Korean engine took place in July 2000. On September 22, 2003, Shahab-3 missiles installed on mobile launch pads were presented at a military parade in Tehran.

Western analysts estimate that this missile, with a range of around 2,000 km and a payload of 700 kg, is in fact a medium-range missile. Or, to call it by name, a strategic weapon. What is more, according to the information published, at the beginning of last year, the Iranians increased the payload of the missile to 1.3 tonnes, without reducing the range of the missile.

Work is in full swing to produce Shahab-5 and Shahab-6 solid propellant ballistic missiles, with a range of 3,000 km and 5,000 km respectively. In other words, Tehran is not far from creating strategic missiles of intercontinental range.

Of course this is what makes Trump lie to 'cover up the shame of the invincible US military'.

Not even close, but here the reason for Trump's apparent collapse or inaction.

And indeed, it is soothing to know that Iran's Supreme Leadership is not overlooking the guidance that @Galactic Penguin has provided.

As published back on 11th February 2019:

Quote:Gone are the days when the U.S. could threaten the Islamic Republic of Iran with a blunt military invasion.

And as of 2018, Iran has already secured a credible deterrence against any direct act of aggression.

This is why the U.S. is now mostly using indirect strategies of proxy war against such military powerhouses, as demonstrated with the 2011 Jasmin Revolution targeting Syria, Libya and all the Middle East, the 21 February 2014 coup against Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, and of course the botched 15 July 2016 coup d'état, thwarted by Turkish President Erdogan.

For this, no need to reach the American continent. Iran's IRGC has the ability to strike at the U.S. Dystopian Empire's Achilles' heel, that is at the U.S. 20,000 orbital military satellites, and all the related ECHELON ground facilities.

Quote:6. Conclusion

Indeed the U.S. Dystopian Empire is only a paper tiger, a colossus with feet of clay, since day one of its take over.

Iran has the capability to simply put an end to the century-long Pax Americana, within an hour of conflict, thus starting the dawn of a multi-millennial long Pax Persiana that will be reminded as the longest Golden Age of Humankind. At the discretion of its Supreme Leader, should He decide to do so, and at the time of His choosing.

And here what has caused Trump to back down on 8th January 2020:

Quote:The US F-35 had been prepared to retaliate, but satellites suddenly found Iran's Trump card weapon forcing to concede a defeat

15 January 2020

According to a report by the Russian Sputniknews news agency on 14th January 2020, after the Iranian authorities announced that they would retaliate against the US military, the Iranian side launched a large number of ballistic missiles, hitting the US military in Iraq three military bases.

After his military base was hit, the White House had originally ordered F-35 fighter jets deployed in the Middle East to retaliate against Iran. However, the Pentagon found through its Keyhole satellites deployed in space that the Iranian military had deployed its own Shahab-5 ballistic missile, and the purpose of the Iranian deployment of this advanced ballistic missile was likely to strike Diego Garcia.

Moreover, Iran has always regarded the 'Shahab-5' missile as its Trump card weapon, so the United States does not have 100% confidence that it can intercept all missiles.

After being hit, Trump had the outside world wait for his final decision, but Trump announced the next day that he would not go to war with Iran, and the White House was considered to be forced to bow its head.

However, a source said that the U.S. military is currently deploying a large number of Patriot missiles to the Diego Garcia military base, and the purpose of their deployment of this air defense missile is self-evident.
