Which Nation Will Be The  4th To Join the Elite Club of Manned Spacefaring Nations?

If successful, it will join the U.S.S.R., the U.S. and China in the elite club of countries to achieve homegrown human spaceflight.

Please support your claim with substantiated evidence, no low IQ self-satisfactory wishful thinking.

Claims for North Korea

Recently, North Korean official media have published an article relating the exploits of the legendary eighth-century great traveler, the Buddhist monk Hyecho from the Silla Kingdom of Korea.
The first ever Korean to have travel from Korea to Persia.

Hyecho and the «Memoir of the pilgrimage to the five kingdoms of India»

주체107(2018)년 12월 1일

Hyecho (704–787), 慧超, Sanskrit: Prajñāvikrama; pinyin: Hui Chao, was a Buddhist monk from Silla, one of the Three Kingdoms of Korea.

Hyecho studied esoteric Buddhism in Tang China, initially under Śubhakarasiṃha and then under the famous Indian monk Vajrabodhi who praised Hyecho as "one of six living persons who were well-trained in the five sections of the Buddhist canon."

On the advice of his Indian teachers in China, he set out for India in 723 to acquaint himself with the language and culture of the land of the Buddha.

During his journey to India, Hyecho wrote a travelogue in Chinese named Wang ocheonchukguk jeon (hanja: 往五天竺國傳) which means, "Memoir of the pilgrimage to the five kingdoms of India."

It is the first known overseas travelogue written in Chinese by a Korean and contains information about the political, cultural and economic customs of India and central Asia at that time. The five Indian kingdoms in the work's title refer to West, East, North, South and Central India. This scroll is estimated as the first East Asian travelogue to the Islamic world.

He went to the coastal countries and crossed Persia (Iran) to reach the region known as the Eastern Empire, before returning to China in the year 727.

Hyecho traveled most of his journey by road for several years, traveling a distance of about 10,000 km, recording in details his experiences.

It took Hyecho approximately four years to complete his journey. The travelogue contains much information on local diet, languages, climate, cultures, and political situations.

4. Official and ambitious goal of North Korea's space program, the exploitation of the lunar rare earths reserve.

Feasibility for North Korea

A suborbital manned flight may be attempted within six months from any civilian or military airfield, as the new civilian space launcher based on the Hwasong-15 intercontinental ballistic missile allows North Korea's NADA space agency, to conduct space launches without the need of any supporting space center, least from Sohae SLC currently under reconstruction.

Definitely not Turkey or Iran. Turkey has no space programme yet and Iran has no funding and virtually no progress. The 7 year plan for Iran is to put a comms sat into GEO, no manned missions are possible currently.

NK has the theoretical capability but India has shown a capability in practice far beyond anything the others have shown, so the obvious choice is India.

Upcoming space launch...

By starting with an orbital launch attempt in 2022, only to avoid contempt in face of China's Shenzhou-5 outstanding achievement, and moreover with a multi-seaters mission, India has set the bar too high, thus leaving the fourth place as a spacefaring nation to North Korea! The DPRK's space agency NADA that is simply attempting a suborbital launch with a single astronaut might succeed within one year!

Indeed, neither the liquid propellant rocket needed to further test-launch the high altitude abort system of the Gaganyaan capsule nor the Indian orbital space launch vehicle are even built. On the countrary, the North Korean suborbital launcher has already been produced, only awaiting the order of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un to be launched with a dummy! Just another hint leaked on February 6th, 2019, in the North Korean media, on the occasion of the North Korean New Year!

No need to add that India will only end up at the sixth place at best, even behind Iran's ISA, that uses the same technologies and hardwares as NADA, the Hwasong-15 SLV might in this case be replaced with a Safir-1 SLV.

Analysis: Hint on the upcoming space launch

Following a previous picture revealing a Hwasong-15 SLV painted on a kid's kite, the latest image taken on 6 February 2019, during the North Korean New Year, shows another kite in the hand of a children, with a Unha-9 SLV, and not flying in the sky.
Only this time, the children are all jumping toward the sky, unmistakable reference to a manned spaceflight! Indeed, this only echoes a some ~30 years old painting of an astronaut rising to the sky, in the Samjiyon children's palace.

Commentary

From official North Korean sources, back in 2012, it was disclosed that the manned Unha-X launcher would have a mass of 400 tonnes.

Kwangmyongsong SLV (the 2016 Unha-4) can send a 1'000 kg payload to a 500 km LEO. The three stages Unha-9 SLV can send a 2 tonnes payload to a 500 km LEO.

With only 4 sets of 80 tonnes force Paektusan-1 engines, totalling a liftoff thrust of 320 tf, the two stages Unha-IX-E2 with a mass of 200 tonnes could only send a single seater E2 (Mallima-1B in Korean) manned capsule with a mass under two tonnes (~1'800kg) at some 250 km LEO altitude.

Note: E1 is the only known Persian designation for the suborbital one seater manned capsule. I called it Mallima-1A for more clarity. While the orbital version is called by Me "E2" or Mallima-1B, by analogy with the U.S.' Mercury-Redstone and Mercury-Atlas concept. Also following this logic, the Redstone would be replaced with a Safir-1D SLV in Iran and a Hwasong-15 SLV in North Korea for the suborbital mission.

With 4 additional strap-on boosters, increasing the liftoff thrust to 8x 80 tonnes force or 640 tonnes force, the 400 tonnes manned Unha-X-F1 can place a dual/three seaters F1 (Mallima-2 in Korean) spacecraft at some 350 km LEO.

Therefore the very ambitious North Korean space conquest plan started in 2017, to perform a spacewalk by 2022 will need at least 6 launches to ensure the reliability of the Unha-9 as a man-rated SLV.

  • Two Communications satellites
  • One Lunar orbiter
  • One GEO satellite

The suborbital part is only a speculation based on the Iranian plan. If it exist, then it should be conducted in parallel, as the launcher is not the Unha, sharing in common only the spacecapsule and the 10 astronauts selection.

India can never catch up with North Korea's 2022 spacewalk, as ISRO has not even considered this possibility, and time is running out.

As a last resort, only Modi Ji performing his famous Yogic Earth Rotation could snatch the 4th space superpower place from North Korea!

The fact that his remarks on the launch of manned spacewalk is not an exaggeration and can be seen from the scale of the facilities of the West Sea [Sohae] Satellites Launch Center. According to this reporter, the launch pad of the West Sea [Sohae] Satellites LC was designed to launch a 400 - ton ultra - large carrier rocket. In fact, the height of the launcher is more than 50m. He described it as a super large carrier rocket, but if it is a 400 ton class rocket, it is not a carrier rocket that carries satellites, but a carrier rocket that carries a manned spacecraft.

On April 12, 1961, the mass of the Soviet manned spacecraft Vostok 1, which flew to space with the first human Yuri Gagarin (1934-1968), was 5.9 t. And the two-stage carrier rocket of the Voskhod spacecraft that performed the first manned spacewalk was 30.84 meters long, the first stage diameter was 2.99 meters, and the mass 298.4 tons. This means that the Soviet Union developed a powerful rocket with a total mass of 304.3 tons, that could launched a manned spacecraft.

Kim Jong Un seems to include a plan to launch a manned spacewalk as well as a lunar exploration satellite in the chairman's first plan for space conquest. The model of the Unha-9 built next to the stage of the 2012.12.21 ballroom is not rocket model for manned space flight. Chairman Kim Jong Un will carry out a step-by-step implementation of the space conquest plan to launch a manned spacewalk on the new type of carrier rocket Unha-10, which is totally different from the Unha-9 model. It is to be realized in the future. In the 10 years period from 2012 to 2022.

@SOHEIL What happened to Iran's space program?

Simorgh has been a failure again and again, and even latest Safir launch was a failure. No new systems, no improvement of technologies, nothing.

At one point it was looking promising for Iran. What happened?

Same goes for nuclear and missile programs of Islamic Republic. Why??

Any chance we would see something new soon from Iran?

There is no mistake. Iranian people lack of any interest for expensive space conquest, nuclear power, as clearly demonstrated by the democratic vote that lead to the political change, and the reformists replacing the principlists. When economy is the main worry for the majority.

This is also cultural, aerospace is too new for the Iranian masses. Only the technological elite of the nation like Ahmadinejad and also India's Abdul Kalam who was an aerospace scientist, can prioritize the aerospace development.

Rouhani is science illiterate, like the majority of its voters.

As we live in a world where decisions are taken at a higher level than governments, the Matrix sees several turn in advance and makes no mistake!

To further substantiate the core concept of the Matrix, and the Green light, please read my full-length commentary.

Fortunately, Iran has North Korea as teammate, therefore both will succeed, as coded in the Matrix.

In the 21th century, sending a man into space might seems easily feasible by any moderately industrialized nation.

Proof that the minimal technologies required for such a spaceflight are already widely accessible in today's internet information era, smaller private teams are spawning everywhere, like IL Aerospace Technologies from Israel!

March/April 2004

IL Aerospace Technologies (ILAT) is based in Zichron Ya'akov, Israel, and is led by Dov Chartarifsky. Recently it has unveiled its new X Prize competition vehicle design now called "Negev" (formerly named Negev-5). Aside from the name, the vehicle's configuration has gone through several design iterations in the last few months. These modifications originated from a fresh set of innovative concepts derived from ILAT's recently formed technical team and advisory committee.

The Negev will be launched from ground level using a helium balloon as a first stage. This unconventional approach allows the vehicle to hitchhike a free ride to its intended rocket launch altitude of 10 Km (32,808 feet) above sea level, and overcome most of the atmospheric drag while saving precious fuel. This high-altitude launch concept makes it possible to design a smaller, lighter, simpler, and more efficient vehicle, hence satisfying the criterion for practical low-cost space access.

Once the altitude for rocket ignition is reached, the vehicle will be detached from the balloon initiating the staging process. The vehicle will drop for 3 to 5 seconds before the solid rocket motor ignites, creating a negative velocity of 50m/s. At the same time, the balloon will immediately sense the sudden ballast change and spring upwards, separating itself away from the vehicle to a safe distance. The on-board computer will control the firing of the 77.8 kN (17,500 lbf) solid rocket motor. The burn will last about 96 seconds at around 78% thrust, accelerating the vehicle to Mach 3.54 (1165.5 m/s). The altitude at burnout will be 49.6 Km (162,730 ft), while the G-force applied to the passengers will reach a maximum of 4.3 prior to burnout. After engine cut-off, the vehicle will continue to cruise pass the 100 Km (328,084 ft) mark where the crew will begin to experience weightlessness conditions for about 4 minutes. At approximately 120 Km (393,701 ft), all forward inertia will be depleted and the vehicle will start to free-fall back to earth.

The attitude of the vehicle will remain the identical to the one during the ascent phase. At an altitude higher than 70 Km (229,659 ft), the nose sphere will detach from the capsule but will remain connected by a cable, thus serving as a stabilizing element during the reentry phase. The maximum deceleration force will peek at ~5.81 G's at 23.6 Km (77,428 ft) into the decent. At an altitude of 5 Km (16,404 ft), at a velocity of around 85m/sec (190 mph), the parachute sequence will start by pyrotechnically deploying both drogue and main chutes sequentially. This altitude is high enough to allow redundant sequences in case of primary system failure. With the main chute fully open, the vehicle will slow down to a mere 7 m/sec before splashing down to the sea.

2. Suborbital Focus

And indeed both the U.S.A., Iran and North Korea have chosen the same path in their space development focus tree, to attempt a suborbital spaceflight first before any manned orbital mission.

Both use a one seater space capsule atop a liquid propellant ballistic missile: U.S. Redstone, Iranian Safir-1D, North Korean Hwasong-15.

http://web.archive.org/web/20190816010736/https://i.imgur.com//ydQr5l3.jpg ; https://archive.fo/PKArh/2ef7fdb5343adda2c548ec1017147fab36fb9f45.jpg ; https://i.imgur.com/ydQr5l3.jpg[/SIZE]
3. U.S. Redstone, Iranian Safir-1D, North Korean Hwasong-15.

Therefore the very similar size for both the missiles and capsules. Notice that North Korea is benefiting from the best hardware available: dual engines for double redundancy, thus double reliability and heightened safety level, and also a much voluminous and more powerful (thrust) launcher.

3. The Green Light

This begs the question, what on earth is hindering the most economically and technologically advanced nations, to send a man into space indigenously?

Japan that was nearly hardware-ready by 1945 for starting waves of near-space military manned flights, India that possesses various type of ballistic missile including ICBMs, and many other military powerhouses of the G7 seem simply to lack the Green Light.

4. Western Fallacious Claims

Due to the level of self-propaganda in the Western education and media, European people don't even consider their claims as illegitimate. Thus, what was the real technological aerospace status of the West before WWII?

Below, the proof that the West's first aerospace efforts were only blunt plagiarism of Chinese origin inventions, and for this very reason, uncredited by the Westerners.

The twelve prototypes of Louis Blériot

Starting from February 1907, Blériot had designed another airplane, made in the workshop of Neuilly. Like the type V, the Blériot VI includes a fuselage of square section stretched by cloth-like cord, with wings of varnished paper

Varnished paper is a technology so Chinese, that the French had to recruit Annamese experts from their French Indochina colony, to produce their airplanes during the WWI !

5. Space-time Continuum Warping

For North Korea securing the 4th place as a manned space superpower, one needs to be endowed with Space-time Continuum Warping special capabilities to clarify.

Kim Jong Il was one of these Great Person. And this Space-time Continuum Warping special ability gives us the answer.

By voyaging back in time to the 15th century Choson Dynasty of Korea, and then to 1590, the first ever recorded manned rocket propelled flight of Jung Pyung Gu (정평구, 鄭平九)(1566-1624), gives the priority of the Green Light to the Korean nation.

Although the concept was reverse engineered from the Chinese Wan Hu's (万虎) rocket-propelled manned winged Flying Vehicle, of 1465 AD, Wan Hu's maiden flight ended in failure, while Jung Pyung Gu succeeded with a 12 km flight.

6. Conclusion

This vision, absolutely inaccessible and unreal for the common of mortals, shows both the past, four centuries ago, the present and also the near future.

In the journey of every nation there are moments that bring utmost pride and have a historic impact on generations to follow. One such moment is the year 1590.

Choson Korea had successfully tested a manned rocket propelled flying vehicle. Thus unlocking the Green Light for the Fourth Place as a manned space superpower in the 21st century!

Confirmed, from now on, North Korea can send a man into space into a suborbital flight any time it wants!

An unknown new space launcher suitable to launch a single astronaut into a suborbital spaceflight and maybe even into LEO, and based on a Hwasong-15 ICBM seems to have been revealed on the occasion of the 70th Arirang Mass Games, called The Glorious Country, held in September 2018. The depiction an astronaut along a manned spacecraft stacked on a rocket stage powered by two engines and extended by a skirt, thus similar to the Hwasong-15 configuration, has been displayed with a new civilian mosltly white paint, instead of the mostly black military paint.

Spurred on by uproar over satellites, Iran relaunches manned space program

Sep 15, 2017

TEHRAN – Iran’s on-off space program has received a boost from Washington’s irritation at a recent satellite launch by the middle eastern nation, with Tehran dusting off plans for a manned mission, perhaps with Moscow’s assistance.

Ten skilled pilots are currently undergoing difficult and intensive training so that two of them … can be selected for the space launch,” the head of the science ministry’s aerospace research center, Fathollah Omi, told the state broadcaster last week.

Official: Iran to Send Astronaut Robot, Human to Space

Mon Sep 11, 2017 6:6

TEHRAN (FNA)- Head of Iran's Aerospace Research Center Fathollah Ommi announced the country's plans to send an astronaut robot to space before sending a human being in the next 8 years.

"The project to send a man to orbit should be implemented by 2025 and before that we will have a project to send human beings to suborbital Earth," Ommi said on Monday.

He also said that Iranian experts will likely send an astronaut robot along with a bio-capsule before a manned mission.

Commentary

Both Iran and North Korea have disclosed their intention to send a man into space by 2021.
As stated by Iran, 10 pilots have already been pre-selected by 2017, and two of them will be the final asronauts.
Taking into account that two years in average are required to train an astronaut, the selection process for North Korea should have started, as hinted by the 2018 New Year show.
In addition the 10 astronauts of the show corroborates the number of 10 Iranian pilots. Therefore one should assume that North Korea is also currently training 10 pilots.

North Korea's first 10 astronauts selection: Second Hint

Following the first depiction of 10 North Korean astronauts in a New Year 2018 show, a second occurrence has just confirmed the previous disclosure.

Timely released as Iranian media have restated the plan by Iran to send a man into space.

Also, Head of Iran's National Space Center Manouchehr Manteqi announced in October that the country planned to cooperate with Russia in sending men into space for the first time.

"Because sending human being into space needs lots of expenses, and different countries use each other's possibilities, and at present, Russia's possibilities are almost complete, we have decided to do the mission in cooperation with Russia," Manteqi told reporters in Tehran.

And indeed, in light of new claims, we have now to further downgrade the european's prospects, from the 7th place to the 8th place at best!

Turkey's first suborbital manned spaceflight

Mr. Erdoğan has boasted of Turkey's past achievements in manned rocket flight. Therefore, he might be interested to send a Turkish astronaut into space.

The first space launcher MUFA (Micro Uydu Firlatma Araci: Micro Sat Launcher) consists of solid-stages and with a liquid fuel upper stage.

It is expected to be launched by 2025, and has a 100 kg payload capacity to a 400 km LEO.

This launcher is slightly more powerful than the Iranian manned suborbital launcher Safir-1D and less powerful than the North Korean suborbital manned launcher Hwasong-15.

New Hints

After a week-end of endless waiting, as expected, hinted by the previous days Kim Jong Un's Climb on Mt Paektu, finally the first ever proof of concept has been revealed officially by North Korea. In the latest 18th October 2019 youtube video, a space launcher is illustrated with a first stage showing 4 rocket engines. By symmetry the total can therefore be numbered to 8 main engines.

The flame in the central part is longer and of larger diameter than the lateral ones, indicating a clusters of engines or less likelly, more powerful ones.

1. The Unha-X launcher as hinted in a 18th October 2019 video.

Although the rocket does not show any strap-on booster, but a clusters of rocket tanks similar to the Saturn-IB, the real design should resemble that of the Chinese CZ-2F.

But the reference to the Saturn-IB means that it is powered by eight main engines, and that it is supporting the manned space program.

The S-IB stage was built by the Chrysler corporation at the Michoud Assembly Facility, New Orleans.[5] It was powered by eight Rocketdyne H-1 rocket engines burning RP-1 fuel with liquid oxygen (LOX). Eight Redstone tanks (four holding fuel and four holding LOX) were clustered around a Jupiter rocket LOX tank. The four outboard engines were mounted on gimbals, allowing them to be steered to control the rocket. Eight fins surrounding the base thrust structure provided aerodynamic stability and control.

You are mixing two things up “rocket flight” and “space flight”.

BTW rocket engines are a Western invention....

The history of rocketry starts with the discovery of solid propellant. It is first invented in China, then spread in East Asia, including today's Korea, Laos, Siam, Burma, Indochina. Stolen by the Mongolian hordes it would thereafter be spread to the Mongolian Empire's splinters after its demise. All this westward. Last comes the Europeans.

Note that in this regard, we see that Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia could emerge, maybe under an unified geopolitical entity, as the not so surprising next spacefaring great power at the 5th place!

Strong claims by North Korea as the leader in term of historical milestones. In fact it even claims to be the first one, but without providing further evidences!

Next space launch

In a modus operandi that now seems familiar to the GEOINT/OSINT analysts, the official North Korean KCNA and Uriminzokkiri websites have published on Wednesday 23rd October 2019, more than fourteen years later, nearly the same list of historical claimed milestones, and first posted on 30th May 2005.

And that previous occurrence was just one year before the 5th July 2006 maiden flight, at 05:01 AM Pyongyang Time, of the new Unha-1 satellite carrier, known as Simorgh in Persian or Safir-2.

Therefore it is highly expected that in the coming future, NADA will test its newest satellite carrier, known as the Unha-9. The second stage having already been tested under the guise of the Hwasong-15 ICBM in December 2017.

The first KCNA version published on 30th May 2005:

World's First Rocket Made in Korea

Pyongyang, May 30 (KCNA) -- "Rocket" weapons were made and used by Korea already in the period of Koguryo (B.C. 277-A.D. 668). The first "rocket" was very simple but its principle is similar with that of modern one.

A jet-propelled weapon called Kwanghwi demonstrated its might in a battle near the castle in Mt. Pukhan in 661.

People of Koryo (918-1392) made a "rocket" called Hwajon.

Hwajon was 726 millimeters long and its arrowhead 90 millimeters long. The arrow was shot by lighting the cartridge.

According to a historical record, Koryo manufactured lots of Hwajon around 1127 and deployed them in vantage points for national defence.

On the basis of arrows with fire wicks made in the period of the three kingdoms, Koreans developed Singijon, the origin of multistage rocket, in the early 15th century.

There were three kinds of Singijon according to their sizes, types and powder-cartridges.

The small one was a two-stage rocket. The medium one with one more small cartridge than the small one was a three-stage rocket, while the large one with four cartridges and wings was a four-stage rocket.

Having a great firing power, they could strike far-off targets on land and big warships. The weapons were widely used during the Imjin Patriotic War (1592) against the Japanese invaders and other battles against invaders. They were also used as signal means.

They are precious historical relics showing the intelligence and patriotism of the Korean nation.

The KCNA repost of 23rd October 2019:

Singijon, Origin of Multi-stage Rocket

Pyongyang, October 23 (KCNA) -- The Korean people made a jet-propelled weapon for the first time in the world.

Kwanghwi, which had the same operating principle with rocket, came into being in the period of Koguryo (B.C. 277-A.D. 668), and Singijon, the origin of multi-stage rocket, appeared in the early 15th century.

Singijon was classified into small, medium and large one according to its size, type and structure of reaction powder-flask.

The small-sized Singijon was a kind of two-stage rocket as it could fly far to a distance by the force of gas emitted from two powder-flasks installed in the tail of an arrow.

The other two weapons equipped with more powder-flasks could fly like three-stage and four-stage rockets.

In the mid-15th century, dimensions of Singijon were standardized on a nationwide scale.

This weaponry was used in the battles of Kyongju and Haengjusan castles during the Imjin Patriotic War (1592-1598). -0-

• "Rocket" weapons were used by Korea already in the period of Koguryo (B.C. 277-A.D. 668).
• Jet-propelled weapon called Kwanghwi used in the battle near the castle in Mt. Pukhan in 661.
• People of Koryo (918-1392) made a "rocket" called Hwajon.
• Koreans developed Singijon, the origin of multistage rocket, in the early 15th century.
• Koreans developed winged rockets, as the largest type of multistage rocket and made of four-stages.
• Koreans also developed Anti-Ship versions during the Imjin Patriotic War (1592).
• All these, centuries before the Europeans.

One of these is a Shenzhou spaceship and the other is a Soyuz.
How many people on PDF think they don't look alike??
You really think you pulled space travel off all by your smart selves...um..think again.
Spoiler ON since it is off topic. Again low 96 IQ shooting own feet indeed.

Soyuz Design Stolen From General Electric Apollo Proposal

There was something awfully familiar looking about the Soyuz spacecraft, the most successful in history....

Is the Soyuz Design a Copy of the General Electric Apollo Proposal?

The Russian Soyuz spacecraft has been the longest-lived, most adaptable, and most successful manned spacecraft design. In production for over thirty years, more than 220 have been built and flown on a wide range of missions. The design will remain in use with the international space station well into the next century.

But did the Russians steal the design from the Americans? When the configuration was first revealed in 1968, some industry insiders immediately noticed a strong resemblance to General Electric's losing Apollo spacecraft proposal. The resemblance was openly discussed by Phillip S Clark and Ralph F Gibbons in 1983. After the Soviet lunar program was declassified, and information on the design of the Soyuz lunar orbiter version was revealed, the similarities seemed even more marked.

Spoiler OFF.

We are talking history, that is rooted back several centuries in the past. And please google Dr Qian Xuesen to discover the history of modern U.S. astronautics before letting loose spate of such nonsense. An U.S. astronautics development that is so foreign, so Alien from A to Z.

Space Sci-fi movie development as rule of thumb

Space sci-fi movie is a good indicator for any global superpower, especially when concerning one's future space achievements.

China has released its most successful sci-fi movie in the international market, 'The Wandering Earth', only this year in 2019, that is one year before the start of the construction of its space station.

The space station is expected to be completed after two years by 2022.

Related experiment preparing for 90 days in weightlessness have only started in November 2019.

1. China leads the way with the 2019 sci-fi movie 'The Wandering Earth' released one year before starting to build its space station!

Space Sci-fi movie development in North Korea

North Korea has a long history of sci-fi production, mostly animated-films for children, and dating back from the 1960s.

An animated-film adaptation of Nam Dae-hyeon’s lightning powered FUGO was first released sometimes before 2013, and reposted on youtube while being streamed live on 3rd September 2019.

This is a good indication that manned space launches are under preparation. Not a space station in the immediate future of course, but a suborbital manned space launch. Manned orbital spaceflight should be expected thereafter.

Space Sci-fi movie development in Iran

Therefore, Iran will release its first sci-fi blockbuster only shortly prior to starting the construction of its own space station. Meaning when it becomes a global superpower.

And Iran will benefit from a good teacher in this field!

Iran can learn from China about sci-fi movies: Reza Mirkarimi

November 22, 2019

TEHRAN – Iranian director Reza Mirkarimi has said that his country can learn from China about making sci-fi and action movies.

He made the remarks during a question and answer panel held after a screening of his film “Castle of Dreams” at the Tsinghua University in Beijing on November 7, Global Times, an English-language Chinese daily, announced last Tuesday.

The film was also screened at the Beijing Film Academy at the same time.

“These genres in Iran are not mainstream. We don’t have enough capacity to achieve what we want,” Mirkarimi said.

“China and Iran are both in the East of the world. We have these common Eastern feelings. There are many Chinese film experts that I’d like to work with, as I’ve seen their works on the screens at international film festivals,” Mirkarimi added.

“Castle of Dreams” is about two young children, whose mother has just died and their father, Jalal, after long years of absence, returns to sort things out, but he does not want to take the children with him.

The film won three main honors at the 22nd Shanghai International Film Festival, including the Golden Goblet Award for the best film.

The film also brought Mirkarimi the best director award, and the film’s star, Hamed Behdad shared the award for best actor with Chang Feng, the Chinese actor of “The Return” by Qin Hailu.

Mirkarimi is currently considering shooting a family drama set in a small city in China and making an animated TV series for children, possibly about the Silk Road and cultural exchange with China.

Space Sci-fi movie development in Turkey

Turks in Space is a 2006 Turkish science fiction action comedy film. It is not the first space movie (G.O.R.A. was released in 2004).

This is a good indication that space launches are under preparation. Not an astronaut in the immediate future of course, but a space launcher, with a satellite launch. Manned spaceflight should be expected thereafter.

Following the American Redstone SLV concept used to launch the single seater Mercury capsule into a suborbital flight, and similar to the Iranian suborbital manned flight with the Safir-1 SLV, or the North Korean Hwasong-15 SLV, Turkey's Roketsan MUFA Micro Sat-Launcher could be used for its first manned suborbital flight attempt.

This would be the fastest way, doable within a few years, by 2025. Manned orbital flight could only be envisaged with the Simsek UFA SLV, meaning after 2030, since a single seater orbital space caspule would have a mass of no less than 1.5 tons (1.8t for Iran's 'E1' capsule), reaching the capacity of the SLV, but feasible as the orbit will not be as high as the 700 km used for SSO reconnaissance satellites, and of only some 200 km altitude.

Rare-Earth Materials May Start Coming From Japanese Seafloor

Aug 08, 2019 at 11:45am

When oil started to be more and more difficult to obtain – and prices rised – it started to be extracted from the seafloor. Sometimes really deep in the ocean, at depths that can reach 28,000 ft underwater. What if we told you rare-earth materials may one day also come from “under the sea”, as Sebastian would say? Well, that’s the intention.

A group of scientists from the Waseda University made research in an area of more than 617,700 acres (2,500 km²) of the Japanese seabed at depths of 19,000 ft and discovered there very big sources of rare-earth materials.

To be more precise, and taking the current global demand into consideration, it could supply “supply Y (yttrium), Eu (europium), Tb (terbium), and Dy (dysprosium) for 780, 620, 420, and 730 years, respectively,” states the study published at Nature.

The important part is that the area contains “16 million tons of rare-earth oxides”. Once the material is extracted from the bottom of the sea, the researchers propose “hydrocyclone separators” to process the minerals.

The Case Of The Republic Of China

Following our previous discussion on 'Space Sci-fi movie development as rule of thumb' (for latecomers just google for any mirror site) and its meaning for any spacefaring nations, let us analyse an interesting counter example.

Today we'll discuss the case of the Republic of China (R.O.C). This is especially important when dealing with the future of Iran's manned space endeavours, as it lacks a clear green light. A situation Iran is sharing with France, the topic of our next post.

One might think that the green light factor should apply for the R.O.C when sharing the same claim with Wan Hu's (万虎) rocket-propelled manned winged Flying Vehicle maiden flight of 1465 AD.

This filter alone seems not sufficient to allow the R.O.C. to take a seat in the manned space race.

Therefore the second filter. The space sci-fi movie development. And the closest to a space science fiction movie one can find on google is nothing.

Then by using baidu instead, there is 宇宙歌女 (2008), known as Diva Viva in English. A 12 minutes black and white short movie.

Storyline

Once upon the time on a small island named Taiwan, a neighborhood magistrate receives a secret message from space through radio transmission. 'The apocalypse is near', the magistrate warns his people, however nobody takes his words seriously. Meanwhile Diva, a suspicious teenage girl indulges herself in melancholic karaoke. Her horrific singing voice becomes a crisis to the magistrate's son, an elementary school boy. Her shameless karaoke turns the neighborhood into a living hell. To revenge Diva, the magistrate decides to explodes earth and migrate into space. Written by Hsin Yu Lin

Thus, Dr Chen Yansheng as the founder of Taiwan's first space technology company, might well succeed in launching the first Taiwanese space launcher by 2020, the Hapith-V SLV able to put a 350 kg payload into LEO, in the class of the KZ-1A.

2. Hapith-V SLV

With a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from University of Kansas, as a former scientist at the N.A.S.A., Senior researcher and system engineering group leader of the National Space Center and chair of sounding rocket program, member of the International Astronautics Federation Space Promotion Committee, having participated in the Mars Exploration Program to study nuclear-powered rocket engines, winner of the 2007 and 2008 N.A.S.A./Marshall Space Center and N.A.S.A. Headquarters Annual Software Design Awards, etc, Dr Chen Yansheng has very serious chances to succeed.

It would only require to put a manned space capsule atop the Hapith-V SLV to accomplish a manned suborbital flight. Materially Taiwan has reached the threshold, like France before.

But from the two video documents presented above, that stress delusion, failure and humiliation, it is obvious that Taiwan will not be the fourth to place a man into space.

1. The Grande Nation's Will To Become The Third Manned Spacefaring Nation

The still very little known manned space race for the third place, that started after WWII and ended in 2003, has opposed France and China, in a great powers' competition spanning over four decades.

The following paper is seamingly the first ever detailed analysis published and made public on the internet.

1949-1954: Sounding rocket milestone

France's space program was started in 1949 with the suborbital Veronique rocket under the military's Land Army and the chemist Henri Moureu.

Its aim was to study the high altitude atmosphere called 'aerial ocean' (l’océan aérien).

It was based on captured German Aggregat-8 rocket technology. More than a hundred of German specialists would work mainly at Vernon near Paris, for the ballistic aeronautic research laboratory.

Karl Heinz Bringer, who had worked previously at Peenemünde in the Dornberger team conceived the propulsion system of the Veronique rocket.

Wolfgang Pilz, another German technician, developed the guidance system of the rocket, before leaving for Egypt to work for Nasser's nascent space program.

Véronique R 8 is launched for the firts time on 2nd August 1950 and for another 7 times until 30th January 1952, reaching a 2 km altitude, with a thrust of 40 kN and a mass of 1000 kg.

The first scientific flight was performed by Véronique NA-12 on 29th Octobre 1954 reaching 104 km altitude.

Thus allowing France to become the world's third power with sounding rocket capability, after the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. (fourth, if including the now defunct German Third Reich).

Meanwhile, the People's Republic of China would only launch its first sounding rocket 'DongFang-1' (东方-1号: East One) on 8th September 1958. Produced by Beijing Institute of Technology (北京理工大学), the two-type solid propellant motor would develop a lift-off thrust of 1.7 ton-force. With a mass of 61 kg, including a payload of 13 kg made of electronic sensors.

1961-1965: Orbital space launcher milestone

Following the Soviet Union and U.S. satellite launches of 1957-1958, the decision to give France a ballistic vector for its nuclear WMD program was taken by Charles de Gaulle in 1958.

Following the launch of the dog Laika into earth's orbit on 3rd of November 1957 by the U.S.S.R., France unofficially entered the manned space race with a little known program - still shrouded in high secrecy to this day.

In September 1959, Médecin Commandant Violette declared to the London Astronautical Congress: 'We are ready to launch animals aboard Véronique rockets.'

Following the first orbital flight of a cosmonaut by the U.S.S.R on 21st April 1961, France officially entered the space race with a satellite launch vehicle program called Diamant.

By 26th November 1965, the 42 kg Asterix satellite (known as A1) would be put into a 527 km × 1697 km orbit with the 274 kN thrust Diamant-A rocket.

Thus allowing France to become the world's third power with satellite launch capability, after the the U.S.S.R. and the U.S.

Meanwhile, the People's Republic of China's space program would be launched on May 17, 1958, by Chairman Mao Zedong's proposal at the Second Session of the Eighth National Congress of the CPC. The plan comprised three steps: sounding rockets, small satellites and lage satellites.
The first satellite 'DongFangHong-1' (东方红-1号: East is Red One) would be placed into orbit on 24 April 1970, at only the fifth place, after the the U.S.S.R., the U.S., France and even Japan!

1961-1967: Animal suborbital flight milestone

Under the CERMA (Center for Studies and Research in Aerospace Medicine) biological experiments with rockets supervised in French Research Center of Aeronautical Medecine by Médecin Général Grandpierre took place for l961 to 1967. During these years, researches were logically conducted with the study of:

- activity of vestibular nerve, relays, reticulum and cortex
- evoked potentials
- conditioned gesture
- Watchfulness

The functioning of the central nervous system in weightlessness conditions was analysed and a hyper synchronous slowing of brain activity was noticed during pure weightlessness.

A first rat was thus prepared in November 1959. The electrodes were connected to a connector attached to a vest. But this system was not reliable and was quickly modified.

Seven flights with animals are launched from Hammaguir in the French Algerian desert. The animals were launched inside a pressurized capsule that was supposed to be recovered using a parachute and a radio beacon.

Rats were first launched with Véronique AGI suborbital rockets. The rat 'Hector'was the first living being launched on 22nd February 1961 - this flight was a success. For the rat 'Castor', on 15th October 1962, the recovery ended in failure. Finally the rat 'Pollux', launched on 18th October 1962, was not recovered. In 1963, the center experimented with launching cats with Véronique AGI rockets. The first was a success with the flight of the first cat ever launched, 'Félicette' but the following second launch did not reach the desired altitude.

Two of the five Vesta rocket flights successfully sent two monkeys, 'Martine' and 'Pierrette', over 240 km above sea level.

2. The first cat in space was launched by France atop a Veronique AGI sub-orbital rocket on October 18th, 1963. This poor animal was actually a stray cat from an animal shelter of Paris. The story goes that fortunately, Felix, the original cat slated for the flight, escaped just prior to launch from the Sahara desert Hammaguir test site in Algeria, and was replaced by the 'backup crew', a female cat named Felicette. Felicette survived the horrific 15 minute flight, reaching an apogee of 217 kilometres. Electrodes implanted in her brain sent information back to Earth, throughout the entire flight. A follow-up launch of a second nameless cat six days later wasn’t so sucessful as he perished during the botched reentry.

Thus allowing France to become the world's third power with space biocapsule capability, after the the U.S.and the U.S.S.R.

Meanwhile, the People's Republic of China's first biocapsule would be launched on a T-7 sounding rocket on 19th July 1964, with 4 mice and 4 rats. Placing China at the 4th position after the U.S., the U.S.S.R. and France.

Two more flights would involve sending rats, before the first large mammal, the dog 'Xiaobao', on 15th July 1966, in a 24 minutes suborbital flight at 70 km altitude.

Heartbeat, blood pressure, body temperature, and breathing were the four parameters monitored.

1961-1966: Re-entry Vehicle milestone

To complete its nuclear deterrent, France only needed to develop re-entry vehicle (RV) technologies.
The first RV built by Sud Aviation in silica resin material for thermal protection, was launched on 29th March 1966, on a Saphir rocket in Hammaguir, French Algeria, for a 60 km altitude suborbital flight.

From 1961, under an European association called Eurospace, France would continue to study manned spacecrafts.
It would carry a 3-tons payload to a 450 km SSO, return a cargo to Earth, launch horizontally or vertically and land at conventional airport.

The first proposal for a 3 meters manned capsule of 4 to 5 tons, launched by an Ariane-4 launcher, was discussed on 23rd October 1975.
But again the idea was rejected, as an outdated concept. Winged spacecraft were expected to become the norm, and capsules considered a thing of the past.

6. Jean-Loup Chrétien  first French cosmonaut in space 24 Juin to 2 July 1982.

Franco-Soviet space cooperation took shape on June 30, 1966, during General de Gaulle's visit to Moscow.

Agreements commit the two protagonists to a joint exploitation of space for peaceful purposes in a number of scientific fields.

A few years later, from 1974, the idea of flying a Frenchman in a Soviet  spacecraft emerged.

In 1979, the Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev proposed to the French President Giscard d'Estaing a space flight, which materialized in 1982 by the PVH mission (First manned flight), carried out by Jean-Loup Chrétien.

He flew on July 24, 1982 aboard Soyuz T6 with Vladimir Dzhanibekov (3rd flight) and Alexander Ivanchenkov. The crew thus spent seven days and 21 hours 50 minutes on board the Soviet orbital station Saliut 7.

1988: First French EVA milestone

In autumn 1985, CNES officials expressed the wish to once again fly a Frenchman alongside the Soviets. Enthusiastic, Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev offered President François Mitterrand a second flight. It was again performed by Jean-Loup Chrétien.

On December 9, 1988, as part of the Franco-Soviet Aragatz mission, Jean-Loup Chrétien became the first non-Soviet and non-American astronaut to perform a spacewalk (EVA).

On November 26, 1988, after two years of training, Chrétien flew aboard Soyuz TM7 Aragatz alongside Alexandre Volkov (40, captain) and Serguei Krikalev (30, on-board engineer) to the MIR station . Chrétien was then 50 years old.

On December 9, 1988, Chrétien performs an EVA, the first for a Frenchman.

The end of the space race with China

Meanwhile, the People's Republic of China's manned space program would be started on October 1965. The Number 651 meeting on discussing the general plan about the first Chinese artificial satellite was held closed-gate at the Beijing Friendship Hotel.

Besides satellite, they also specially discussed manned spaceflight. Before that, after discussion, the Chineses Academy of Sciences proposed a grand plan, of which, the most exiting part was that five years after the first Chinese man-made earth satellite was launched, a manned spacecraft would be launched.

The spacecraft was named Dayaojin (Great Leap Forward). At first it was not named Shuguang-1.

In June 1967, arranged by Qian Xuesen, the Eighth Design Institute of the Seventh Ministry of Machine Building set up the Office of General Study of Manned Spacecraft.

Three months later, a feasibility report on spacecraft was placed on the desk of Qian Xuesen.

Qian Xuesen exited told the researcher that the Central Commitee of the CPC had granted the spacecraft a name, Shuguang (Dawn).

In the initiatory plan of the Shuguang Project, the researchers were inclined to carry five astronauts for the first attempt.

People also placed their passion to surpass the Soviet Union and the U.S. on the manned spacecraft. However, Qian Xuesen was fully aware that the problem was not so easy. The launcher developed from intercontinental missile could not produce enough thrust.

Research on the spacecraft measurement and control and space medicine had not followed up yet. Faced with the reality, Qian Xuesen proposed to keep discussing a plan with less astronaut.

On July 14, 1970, 80 days after the launch of China's first satellite, Dongfanghong I, a secret report of the State Science and Technology Commission was sent to the central leadership's desks including Zhou Enlai. The report made it clear the need to start the development of manned spacecraft, selection and training of astronauts. Mao Zedong circled the document and agreed. The approval of Mao Zedong meant the official launch of the Shuguang-1 (Dawn-1) manned spacecraft project. Shuguang-1 was also known under the secret code name of Project 714. The development of various systems began under the commander of the manned spaceflight technology, Dr. Qian Xuesen.

Since 1972, the research on the Shuguang-1 started to slow down. With regard to the reality, Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai decided to suspend Project 714, to work on the Earth first.

During the 1980s the program would evolve as the Chinese Project 863 manned orbital spacecraft.

8. Chinese Project 863 manned orbital spacecraft concept from Beijing Institute of Control Engineering of April 1989

Then again the program would be reshuffled from 1992 under the Chinese Project 921 manned orbital spacecraft.

A strategy that ultimately ended the four decade-old race for the 3rd place as a manned spacefaring power, with the successful flight of China's first astronaut, Yang Liwei aboard the Shenzhou-5 spacecraft, on 15th October 2003.

It would only have required to put a manned space capsule atop the 274 kN thrust Diamant-A SLV to accomplish a manned suborbital flight. Materially France had reached the manned spaceflight threshold since 1965.

Today, some six decades later, even with a budget of 2.4 billion euros in 2019, France that boast of financing the third largest space program's budget in the world, just behind the United States (more than 40 billion dollars including the NASA and the military) and China (about USD 7 billion), and even with the possession of powerful Vega, Ariane-5 and Ariane-6 SLVs, France and Europe still can't launch a single astronaut into a modest 100 km altitude 20 minutes surborbital flight.

The initial fatal gamble since 1961 of bypassing the development of capsules, for the most prestigious and futuristic, but highly risky space planes, decisions repeatedly reconfirmed several times over the last 6 decades until today, can not explain alone the Frenchs' inability to send a man into space.

In fact, the first filter shows that it is due to France's lack of a green light, or weakness in past achieved historical milestones. As compared to the Asian heavy competitors: China, Korea, Turkey, Japan, etc.

Through the second filter, and from the most recent sci-fi movie presented below, that stresses total delusion, and presents human spacefaring as low life guinea pigs exposed to lethal space radiations, and decimated like the cannibal dogs of spaceship #9, only to end up in the ultimate cosmic meat grinder of black holes, it is obvious that France could never have achieved the third manned spaceflight in the world, and that no European powers (France, UK, Germany) will be able to be the fourth in the world to place a man into space.

High Life is a 2018 space science fiction film by the French director Claire Denis, co-produced by France, Germany, the UK, Poland and the US.

'I had a screenplay which was naturally in English, because the story takes place in space and, I don’t know why, but for me, people speak English — or Russian or Chinese — but definitely not French in space.' -Claire Denis

Storyline

'High Life' takes place beyond the solar system in a future that seems like the present. About a group of death-row inmates who accept a mission in space to become the subjects of a human reproduction experiment. They find themselves in the most unimaginable situation after a storm of cosmic rays hit the ship.

Monte (Robert Pattinson) and his baby daughter are the last survivors of a damned and dangerous mission to deep space. The crew—death-row inmates led by a doctor (Juliette Binoche) with sinister motives—has vanished. As the mystery of what happened onboard the ship is unraveled, father and daughter must rely on each other to survive as they hurtle toward the oblivion of a black hole.

2. Implication for Iran

Iran presents many similarities with France. The first filter shows that Iran lacks a green light, due to its weakness in past achieved historical milestones.

Moreover, Iran's path is literally a copycat of the France one:

The suborbital biocapsule program is obviously so French in concept, that in 2013, fifty years after the flight of the cat Felicette, Iran even announced its intention to send its own cat into space next.

16th September 2013

The lead candidate for the second launch of the probe is a special breed of living cat, known as the Persian Cat, known worldwide, said the head of the Iranian Space Agency's Astronautical Systems Research Institute. The launch will be using liquid fuel until the end of this year.
Dr. Mohammad Ebrahimi said: Any creature other than the Iranian cat has either been sent into space by other explorers in the past or is a race from other countries, including the pioneer astronaut monkey.
Some news sources cite other organisms such as mice and rabbits as the main candidate for launching the second living creature.

Obvious similarities between the Iranian and French suborbital biocapsules:

11. Overview of Iranian suborbital animal flights

Since there is no real scientific justification behind these suborbital animal flights, more than half a century after the first one, it is only meant to be an internal and external announcement of one's future space plan. It's function is similar to the sci-fi movie production.

Therefore, it is strongly suspected that Iran will not be the next, i.e. the 4th manned spacefaring power, and that instead of waiting for its turn (11th at the earliest according to the green light list), Iran would more likely send an astronaut into space aboard a foreign spacecraft, most probably a Russian Soyuz, just like France did in 1982.

But, from the second filter, that depicts a 'positive' perception of the manned space in its nascent sci-fi movie industry, one can not rule out that Iran performs sometime in the years ahead, a joint spaceflight at the 4th place, if it accepts to take a seat in a spacecraft launched from North Korea. Taking advantage of the North Korean Green Light.

The Case Of The French Fifth Republic: Epilogue

Back to Earth, exposed to uncontrolled skyrocketing crime rate in France, and facing a dead end in Europe, in his professional career, Jean-Loup Chrétien, France's first cosmonaut was forced in 1997 to leave for the United State and become a U.S. citizen, where he could continue training for more spaceflights for the NASA.

Sadly, this only parallels the fate of another brethren veteran cosmonaut, Muhammed Ahmed Faris, the second Arab in space, and the first ever Syrian to fly aboard Soyuz TM-3 with cosmonauts to the Mir Space Station for over a week in 1987 (from July 22).

Former Syrian astronaut in Turkey set for citizenship

November 29 2019 13:04:29

After fleeing a civil war in his country of birth, the world's first Syrian astronaut is close to becoming a Turkish citizen.

“I am not a Turkish citizen but I have an application, and it's in the final stages,” Muhammed Ahmed Faris, a decorated ex-air force pilot, said during the 10th Bosphorus Summit in Istanbul.

In 1987, Faris became the second Arab in space, flying with cosmonauts to the Mir Space Station to do research there for over a week.

Fast forward to 2011, the start of the Syrian civil war.

Since then, over 5 million civilians have become refugees. Neighboring Turkey hosts 3.6 million of them, more than any country in the world -- including Faris, who came to Turkey in 2012.

“Life in Turkey is so nice and I would like to thank the Turkish community and Turkey for hosting Syrian refugees, as they are hosting around 4 million refugees,” said Faris.

“We got used to living in Turkey because Syrians and Turks are so similar,” he said. “Historically Syrians and Turks have lived together for years.”

Now Faris delivers lectures to high school and university students on space and astronomy, subjects he knows well firsthand.

“This month, I gave seven lectures in [the northwestern Turkish provinces of] Bursa and Istanbul at schools and universities,” he added.

After forming its own space agency, Turkey is due to announce an ambitious space program in 2020, according to the country's technology minister.

As for the future of the pioneering Faris, who took to the stars over 30 years ago, he said his terrestrial plans include putting down roots in Turkey.

“I will stay in Turkey, inshallah,” said the former astronaut.

The silver lining in these tragedies, means that Turkey will soon lead in crewed spaceflight, second to none in the Muslim world.

Decryption for 'Turkey is due to announce an ambitious space program in 2020': a satellite launcher, a lunar orbiter, a suborbital manned flight.

And those who are lining up for a first manned suborbital flight are numerous indeed, but only the green light filter can give the go-ahead.

The list, incomplete as of 31st December 2019:

North Korea
Hwasong-15 manned suborbital launcher (payload capacity of several 100 of kg in LEO)
Unha-9 manned orbital launcher (able to place 3'000 kg into LEO)

Turkey

Iran takes 1st step for sending astronaut to space: ICT min.

4 February 2020 - 21:32

TEHRAN, Feb. 04 (MNA) – Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technology (ICT) Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi said that Islamic Republic of Iran took the first step for sending astronaut to space.

The plan for manufacturing five space bio capsules for carrying humans to the space kicked off.

He made the remarks late on Tue. in a ceremony of ‘Space Technologists’ Gathering” held at the venue of ICT Museum and added, “ICT has ordered manufacturing five space capsule for carrying human to space to the Aerospace Research Center of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology.”

This will be the first step for sending Iranian astronaut to the space, the capsule of which is supposed to be manufactured within three years, Jahromi highlighted.

Turning to the manufacturing explorer, he added, “manufacturing explorer is on the research stage.”

Presently, ICT has ordered the construction of five explorers for robots up to 190km circuit of the Earth as weigh as 1,800, the prototype of which will be used for preparedness of human sending to the orbit.

ICT Minister Azari Jahromi said, “this project is carried out in cooperation with the international organizations and will have a major impact in progressing Iran’s space knowledge with regards to the spatial explorations.”

2. Dream of walking on the moon! Feb 4, 2020

Its just surprising that Iran is struggling with a manned space flight when Gagarin in the USSR managed it in the early 60's. How hard can it be? Hasn't Iran already launched living things and recovered them alive?

Japan.

very unfair to not have that option.

Bro, it was not even thinkable when the poll was created last year.

In one year, Turkey, Japan have joined the lead group, and now after Qassem Soleimani's demise, Iran seems again one of the top competitor!

But as explained in previous analysis, Japan has very little chance to do it before the bigger players.

lulldapull said:

The question is rather why Germany, France, U.K., Italy, Holland, Sweden, Belgium, Austria, Hungary, Denmark, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece, Norway, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, etc, all those former or current colonial world powers before WWII, can't afford and worse don't even dream of developing any indigenous manned space program! Thus lagging far behind North Korea, Iran, Turkey and even Burma!

And why does India have to import everything from others especially from France?

French agency CNES to aid ISRO’s space station project

27th January 2020 04:48 AM

Teams of CNES and ISRO have finalised drafting the agreement between the two space agencies in which French experts are likely to provide training to Indian astronauts.

BENGALURU: The French national space agency National Centre for Space Studies (CNES), which is collaborating with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in the Gaganyaan project, will also partner with the latter in the development of India’s planned space station.

A CNES official, speaking on behalf of the president of CNES, Jean-Yves Le Gall, told The New Indian Express that the French agency and its industry partners have gained vast experience from the Automated Transfer Vehicle (ATV) and its spin-offs such as rendezvous operations with the International Space Station (ISS). “French and European partners can bring the skills they have acquired in developing and operating systems and dedicated infrastructure for long-term six-month flights of European astronauts on the ISS,” he said.

While reiterating support for the Gaganyaan missions, he termed it as "the first step towards future collaboration on the development of India’s planned space station". "We want cooperation between France and India in human spaceflight to evolve into a long-term partnership along the same lines as our 15-year collaboration on climate-monitoring satellites and 50 years of working together on launchers," Le Gall said.

“We have confidence in ISRO’s ability to partner in human space exploration and we are ready to provide all the support we can to develop the space station. This also means India should be closely involved in the future international space station programmes that will succeed ISS, commensurate with its place in the world”, he said at an event organised by ISRO in the city recently.

French experts may train Indian astronauts

Meanwhile, teams of CNES and ISRO have finalised drafting the agreement between the two space agencies in which French experts are likely to provide training to Indian astronauts. They are likely to be trained by Novespace, a CNES subsidiary, on parabolic flights aboard the Air Zero Gravity, which is a modified version of an Airbus A310, a CNES official said. This will provide the astronauts a zero-gravity environment on Earth.

Expert services will be provided at CADMOS (the control centre in charge of operating the science and physiological experiments on the ISS) at MEDES space medicine research facility and hospital, in collaboration with ESA’s European Astronaut Centre (EAC). The CADMOS conceives and prepares the instruments and equipment that Europe’s astronauts use on the ISS, the official said.

The four Indian astronauts are set to go to Russia’s Star City for training, ISRO Chairman K Sivan had told TNIE. The training is said to last for a year (2021) before they return to India for another round of training.
The CNES will also provide India equipment for life support that astronauts will wear during Gaganyaan, scheduled for 2022. They will be using several French devices for health monitoring — eyewear device featuring a bluetooth connected garment which is equipped with biomedical sensors, aquapad cotton for quick and easy testing of water, specific equipment for waste management, or even food packaging.

They may even use other devices such as the ECHO, an ultrasound system tele-operated by doctors on the ground, or the Cardiomed to measure cardiovascular activity. CNES expert Dr Brigitte Godard has already spent time during July and August in Bengaluru to train physicians and personnel, said the official.

The Indian physicians and engineers involved in Gaganyaan will also be trained in France in the coming months. Training sessions will be for two weeks each, with teams coming and going. The training will be given at MEDES space medicine and physiology institute in Toulouse and by the teams at ESA’s astronaut training centre in Cologne.

Indeed, as stated repeatedly, Iran was practically hardware ready by 2016.

Iranian milestones as of 2016

• Several suborbital flights with living animals

• Designing, construction and testing the first generation of suborbital manned spacecraft

• Telemetry conceptual design for the altitude of 250 km

• Designing, manufacturing and testing the recovery system for a 500 kg payload.

• Dynamic analysis of the astronaut’s body for suborbital spaceflights

• Conceptual design of an orbiting spacecraft carrying a human

But as stated previously, Iran is now following the more conservative approach of China, with 4 uncrewed missions before the first manned attempt, and only for a least risky suborbital flight.

This, while India's approach will be the most risky among all the space powers, with only 2 uncrewed missions before the first manned attempt, and an orbital one!

Not difficult to predict that with India's past safety record and success rate, this nation will either have to delay the launch date of its first crewed flight, and schedule more uncrewed missions, or... face a most unpleasant accident.

Clarification

Dec 10, 2019

Meanwhile India will attempt to launch its first vyomanaut by December 2021. Only after 2 unmanned flights.

Keeping in mind that China took 4 Shenzhou flights before risking a human flight, that the U.S. waited more than 4 launches of Mercury-Redstone before risking an astronaut, and that the Soviet Union even waited 7 Korabl-Sputnik launches before the first manned Vostok flight.

And the Indian GSLV Mk-III launcher is not yet a human rated one as of 2019. While the Gaganyaan space capsule is undergoing a major total overhaul, with the import from Russia of new window, seats and even spacesuits.

This obviously heedless and most risky approach by ISRO could well end up like the previously most infamous Vikram lunar landing gamble, that crashed helplessly on the lunar surface last 7th September 2019!

But this time with a much more serious national state funeral.:cry::cry::cry::cry:

You have been warned!

Nobody should overlook the difficulty to complete a manned suborbital flight.

Today, the first ever known casualty in this manned suborbital race.

A contender from the U.S., in this space race that is unforgiving of even the slightest error.

Apparently the recovery parachute was accidentally released right after the takeoff, thus sealing his fate with a full speed impact on the ground upon return.

‘Mad’ Mike Hughes believed Earth was flat. He was killed when his home-made rocket crashed in California desert

A California man who said he wanted to fly to the edge of outer space to see if the world is round has died after his home-made rocket blasted off into the desert sky and plunged back to earth.

“Mad” Mike Hughes was killed on Saturday afternoon after his rocket crashed on private property near Barstow, California.

Waldo Stakes, a colleague who was at the rocket launch, said Hughes, 64, was killed.

The Science Channel said on Twitter it had been chronicling Hughes’ journey and that “thoughts & prayers go out to his family & friends during this difficult time”.

“It was always his dream to do this launch,” the Twitter message said.

Hughes also was a limousine driver, who held the Guinness world record for “longest limousine ramp jump”, for jumping 31 meters in a Lincoln Town Car stretch limousine, at a speedway in 2002.

A video showed the rocket taking off, with what appears to be a parachute tearing off during the launch. The steam-powered rocket streaks upwards, then takes around 10 seconds to fall straight back to earth. Shrieks can be heard as the rocket falls into the desert.

Freelance journalist Justin Chapman, who was at the scene, said the rocket appeared to rub against the launch apparatus, which might have caused the mishap with the parachute.

Chapman told The Los Angeles Times in an interview that Hughes might have been knocked unconscious during take-off.

In March 2018, Hughes propelled himself about 570 meters into the air. He deployed one parachute and then a second one but still had a hard landing in the Mojave Desert in California, and injured his back.

“This thing wants to kill you 10 different ways,” Hughes said after that launch. “This thing will kill you in a heartbeat.”

He said in a video that his goal was to eventually fly to the edge of outer space to determine for himself whether the world is round.

“I don’t want to take anyone else’s word for it,” he said in the video, posted on the BBC News website. “I don’t know if the world is flat or round.”

In another video posted on his YouTube site, Hughes said he also wanted “to convince people they can do things that are extraordinary with their lives”.

“My story really is incredible,” Hughes once said.

“It’s got a bunch of storylines – the garage-built thing. I’m an older guy. It’s out in the middle of nowhere, plus the Flat Earth. The problem is it brings out all the nuts also.”
