UK Seizes Iranian Oil Supertanker in Spanish Coast
#11
UK tanker -- which was on its way to the Strait of Hormuz -- has made a U-turn and anchored off the Saudi coast in the Persian Gulf.

Apparently fearing Iranian retribution...

Iran has seen nothing come out of the nuke deal, just empty promises. Then Trump yanks the chain of the EU, and they all fall in line......with the party line in washington. The nuke deal is dead!

What does Iran expect France to do?

France doesnt want a war against Iran and i see that our country work hard to keep the deal running. I expect Iran to also try its best to keep it running.

The oil tanker thing is just a distracction. They will release it anyways.

The main opposition in the UK is usually Labour, but Labour these days (despite Conservative government's terrible handling of the Brexit issue) are not so popular for some reason. Jeremy Corbyn (Labour leader) is seen as quite far-left and has some controversies with Hamas/Hezbollah (mostly media-manufactured in an attempt of 'character assassination').

So Labour party is powerful enough to bring down PM of UK. again timing of this incident is the key element here.

another question what will happen after Brexit in terms of security protocols ? since all these political fights within UK is about how to implement Brexit if they are going to do it.

You cant say that. France and Germany stick to the deal and so does entire EU.

France invested alot in INSTEX. The problem is, that we cant force companies to trade with Iran. Trumps sanctions scare corporations away.

Looks like the BP tanker was escorted out of the Persian gulf by NATO warship.

No, Labour party was nothing to do with it. Her own party forced her out.

What security protocols? UK security is closer to US than EU anyway.

Then they will get much closer to each other. (  I think US will use UK as a bargain chip in her future relationship with EU countries ).

the way I see Brexit its something like role of Japan between China and US I think UK wants to play that role between EU and US which is a foreign policy blunder for UK . EU is not China

What security protocols? security protocols of future and this tanker seizure is part of that future world.

Yes, now UK will possibly need FTA with US to make up for losing preferential access to EU markets so the US will have a lot more leverage over the UK.

This explains why UK was happy to follow US 'request' to seize the tanker.
