Saeghe I/II. Azaraksh. Kowsar. Domestic F-5 E/F upgrades
#21
Those Old F-5s are no longer relliable , So agree or disagree but the Kowsar has points to exist !
Iran should Produce & Keep it for training purpose and export it as CAS to tiny countries !

Yes, selling upgraded F5 could be a good option. Maybe Iran can get 3 million per F5 plus maintenance, spare parts, flightsimulator, trainings ect.

Considering the conflicts around, Iran needs CAS. On the other hand the Tomcats are old and few. Even with the best avionics and gear in the world, they would not be enough for Iranian air defence needs. And they have been upgraded already earlier.

Hi mustavaris! Nice to read you again Smile

And yes, Iran needs some heavy fighters with bombing cabability. So buying a stock of them, 40-50, is the best solution imo till Iran can massproduce them self.

How About additional Su-25s ? Big Grin

Iran definitely needs CAS fighters but i think a interceptor should be the priority since Iran will not get invaded any time soon but the danger to get only attackt from the air is high.

it would be amazing to see that Iran can sell the kowsar to other countries but i doubt it since most countries are afraid to get in trouble with the u.s. zionist regime

It is becoming obvious that Air Force is mostly for stunts and propaganda :(

The threat of a serious insurgency is relatively low. The most likely adversary for Iran is the belligerent Saudis, we need fighters to defend our airspace and punish them.

60+ Su-27SM3, Su-30SME, SU-35S procurement is must for Iran.

Going with the direction of domestic F-5 program. In near future I hope to see a bit larger air frame with AESA (KLJ-7A), IRST (WMD-7), BVR (R-77SD and T or PL-12) HMD + HOBS WVR (R-74). Higher number of such domestic fighter will cause severe problems for any intruder force if supported by AEW. They can launch their missiles and leave the area. Do not forget that in future Fulcurum fleet "MiGHT" get to SMT standards with additional numbers. F-14AM, SU-30SM, Mig-29 SMT, Domestic F-5 variant ... supported by AEW they can defend Iranian skies. Strong AEW platform is a must for IRIAF.

Domestic F-5 can be placed in allied countries as well. 5-8 million USD per fighter is not that bad. Imagine those Iranian assets that got bombed in Syria by IAF, what would have happened if on average those airbases were guarded by 20 each planes. They would have brought down even if 15-25 % of the intruder fleet means prpropaganda victory. Enemy has to show face to its public back home as well, how do you think Israeli population would react when 3-4 jets are brought down by Iranian fighters in Syrian skies. These militias, boys that mullahs are sending to iraq, lebanon, syria deserve to be defended.
